Like his Chambolle Villages, the 1999 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru from Christophe Roumier is beginning to drink beautifully, bursting from the glass with aromas of red plum, cherry, grilled meat, truffle, toasty oak and a top note of heather. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich and ample, with a generous core of cool fruit, excellent length and a long, chalky finish that is classic Ruchottes-Chambertin.
