The Complex Dialogue of Vintage and Terroir
The 2004 vintage saw near-perfect growing conditions; a moderately dry winter transitioning seamlessly into a warm spring, followed by extended summer sunshine kissed by cool Pacific breezes. This concordant climate nurtured grapes of distinct ripeness and complex character which were hand-harvested in October, at the optimal zenith of their maturity.
This particular vintage lends a radiant ruby robe which drapes the 2004 Dominus Napanook in visual allure. An enrapturing nose of ripe blackcurrant, Asian spices and cigar box breaches your senses, pulling you deeper into its depths with every breath.
Unearthing Investment Potential in Fine Wines from USA
With age, the wine has developed an enchanting palate – layers upon layers unfurling with hints of cassis, mocha, and Provencal herbs. The integrated tannins, underlaid by a silk road of acidity, journey towards an enduring finish - a promise that this wine will exhibit composure even in the long term. For the discerning investor seeking assured growth and diversification for their portfolio, fine wines like the 2004 Dominus Napanook make an enticing proposition.
Whilst many vineyards strive to replicate a specific style or ape Europe’s established regions, Dominus is demonstrably true to its Californian roots. This Napanook affirms the estate's commitment to crafting wines that embody the distinctive harmony of Napa Valley, standing as an emblem for one of the best United States' wine-producing regions.
Whether for the pleasure of imbibe or as an investment in liquid asset appreciating over time, the 2004 Dominus Napanook from Dominus exudes sophistication, reflecting an unparalleled synchrony between varietal and vintage. It is not just a mere expression of a year, it’s an experience unto itself in every uncorking.

A blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec from the proprietor of Dominus, the 2004 Napanook Cabernet Sauvignon is a soft, consumer-friendly style of wine. It is seductive, has a dark plum/garnet color, plenty of tobacco leaf, black currants, cedar and spice box in a medium to full-bodied, round, generous, yet elegant, style. Drink it over the next decade. There are 3,600 cases of this wine, which was made from fruit harvested between August 23-September 26, with yields of 2.3 to 2.7 tons per acre. This beautiful historic vineyard in Yountville produced 5,500 cases of Dominus from a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot. Increasingly, it is rare to find any Merlot being used in Dominus. Proprietor Christian Moueix said that the 2004 harvest stood out because of the extraordinary heat during the first several weeks of September. The harvest was one of the earliest ever – starting at the end of August and finishing before the end of September. Tel. (707) 944-8954; Fax (707) 944-0547
