Zachys’ HK$36m sale sets strong precedent for autumn auctions

US auction house Zachys got its autumn sales season off to a strong start with a Hong Kong auction that realised HK$36.8m (US$4.8m) earlier this month.

A number of world records were set at the sale, including a magnum of 1989 Latour going for HK$222,300 and a case of Screaming Eagle’s 2010 Sauvignon Blanc selling for HK$185,250.

Elsewhere in the sale, the top lots included: three Jeroboams of 1983 Petrus, which sold for HK$617,500; five bottles of Henri Jayer’s 1978 Cros Parantoux, which sold for HK$494,000; and another six magnums of the 1993 Vosne Romanee, which went for HK$444,600.

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti made up the remaining top lots, including Romanée-Conti from the 2004, 2005 and 2006 vintages and some assortments of 1990, 1993 and 2001.

A magnum of cult Champagne Boërl & Kroff 1995 was also sold for HK$27,170.
