Climate and Craftsmanship Crafting a Collectible Vintage

The year 1995 was marked by climatic conditions that tested both vine and vintner. A mild winter preceded a rather brisk spring, leading into a summer that swayed between extremes. The spell of hot weather interspersed with timely showers brought forth a harvest of impeccably ripe fruit with a compelling acidity – a bequest from Mother Nature that has been deftly preserved in bottle.

The Bouquet of '95: Intoxicating Complexity

Venturing into the sensory realm, the 1995 Chateau Rauzan-Segla unveils aromas that are both profound and diverse. On the nose, one may find oneself entranced by whispers of cassis mingled with tantalising scents of cedar and tobacco - each sniff skating across the olfactory senses with the grace of an autumnal breeze.

These aromatic threads carry through to an enlivened palate that parades flavours associated with a mature Margaux. The structural integrity preserved over nearly three decades reveals itself in fine-grain tannins that embrace dark berry opulence, gracefully entwined with earthy undertones and a touch of spice. This is the hallmark complexity that wine investors search for in such storied vintages.

In the realm of fine wine investment, both provenance and longevity are paramount – and this vintage is exemplary on both accounts. The 1995 Chateau Rauzan-Segla represents an enduring investment potential, having navigated the passage of time with aplomb to deliver an experience that is as rewarding on the palate as it is on the portfolio.

The 1995 Rauzan-Ségla is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep brick colored, the nose is looking a little oxidized with faded fruit, leather and rusty nail scents plus wafts of iodine and sweaty leather. Medium-bodied, firm and chewy, with a pleasant, lingering bit of savory-laced fruit, it finishes a tad hard. Drink up!
