Le Petit Cheval 2004
Tasting Notes Le Petit Cheval 2004
This is a very impressive Le Petit Cheval, in fact so good that perhaps it jaded my impression of the Grand Vin. A lovely damson, blueberry nose with a slight savory note. The palate is quite backward with fine density, cohesion and poise. Seamless tannins with a slight bitterness on the finish. Excellent. Tasted April 2005.
The well-made second wine, the 2004 Le Petit Cheval, is softer and fruitier than the Cheval Blanc, with loads of crunchy cherries intermixed with dried herbs, spice, and toasty oak. A blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc (30,000 bottles produced), it will drink well for 7-10 years.
