Tasting Notes Rieussec 1996
This wine offers an orange, caramel, and honeyed nose with intriguing quince/kumquat fruit flavors, a complex personality, and a low level of glycerin in the mouth. This medium to full-bodied, long wine will be at its peak between 2000-2020.
Although I enjoyed this more in its youth, this Rieussec was rather perplexing at eleven years of age. A strange lavender-scented nose with a touch of acacia honey leads to a simple palate with good concentration but like the Filhot -01 before it, burdened with too much oak. Tasted March 2007.
