2014 Meursault Genevrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury, Burgundy, France

The vaunted 2014 vintage of Meursault Genevrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury is a testament to the resilience and artistry present in the Côte de Beaune. The year’s climatic challenges, which could have spelled ruin for less vigilant vintners, here manifest as a triumph of terroir and tenacity.

A Vintage Defined by Vigilance

Mother Nature presented Burgundy with a medley of trials in 2014; a temperamental growing season beset by spells of rain and hail, capped by an Indian summer. Yet, the impeccable pedigree of Domaine Coche-Dury turned potential adversity into a strewn field of liquid jewels.

Elegance Amidst Adversity

The 2014 Meursault Genevrieres offer investors an intriguing proposition. Engaging the senses with an almost balletic poise, this Chardonnay enfolds lush orchard fruits with an enlivening minerality. Inflections of toasted almond and subtle spice hint at the care bestowed upon barrel maturation, while the wine's acidulous backbone ensures both immediate enjoyment and enduring potential for cellaring. It's a wine that bespeaks its limestone lineage; each sip attests to the vineyard's noble Genevrieres soil.

For aficionados seeking cellars graced with Burgundian splendour, this vintage stands out as one of distinction within the already stellar reputation of Domaine Coche-Dury. Though 2014 presented its vicissitudes, this is a vintage that not only endures but mesmerises with a vivacious clarity that will only deepen with time.

Conclusion: Elegance as an Investment

In sum, the 2014 Meursault Genevrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury exemplifies how rigorous viticultural acumen can coalesce with fortune's favour. It is a nectar of nuance; a poised dance between fruit and minerality that possesses both the charm for present delectation and the structure for future dividends in both pleasure and portfolio merit. Elegant, complex and radiant, it is a wine that rewards those who understand the investable quality of Burgundy’s liquid lore.

The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru les Genevrières comes equipped with a simply magnificent bouquet: orange blossom, hazelnut, minerals and yellow flowers (dandelion and peony). It is incredibly focused and disarming in terms of its intensity. The palate is crisp and taut. It feels unapologetically linear, razor-sharp delineation and with outstanding depth. It begins to loosen up towards the finish, although it is clear that it will benefit from several years in bottle...if you can resist temptation!
