Provenance and Performance: A Unique Vintage

Bearing the hallmark finesse and structure of Domaine Georges Roumier's craft, this climat's rendition fully expresses the pedigree one expects from this illustrious estate. With vines deeply rooted in shallow limestone soils, the 2015 vintage bears a distinctive minerality—a signature whisper of the terroir. Experienced investors will note the consistently high performance of Roumier's wines, and the 2015 Ruchottes Chambertin is no deviation from this heritage of excellence.

A Remarkable Climatic Symphony

The growing season for the 2015 vintage saw warmth and dryness, a trajectory that might panic less skilled vignerons. However, the seasoned hands at Domaine Georges Roumier guided their crops into September harvests with astute vigilance. The result was concentrated berries, yielding wines with luscious intensity balanced by structured tannins.

Tasting this wine is a journey through multifaceted layers: it starts with a flourish of ripe cherries and blackcurrants, enlivened by an underlying earthy truffle note. The mid-palate offers surprising bursts of spice and fleeting floral hints before graciously acquiescing to an enduring finish resonating with elegance and poise.

To engage with the 2015 Ruchottes Chambertin from Domaine Georges Roumier is to understand its finite place within your portfolio: rare, collectable and endlessly captivating. It stands as a testament not only to its storied roots but also to the vintage's particular narrative—one where climate, vineyard, and vigneron weave together a tapestry of oenological allure. Each sip invites contemplation of its investment potential, embedded as deeply as its origins in the limestone soils of Burgundy.

Tasted blind, Christophe Roumier's 2015 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru was especially impressive, unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet wild berries, dried roses, raw cocoa and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with wonderful depth, dimension and concentration, underpinned by a lovely line of acidity. The combination of amplitude, power and vibrancy make this very special indeed. I won't touch any of my bottles for a decade and would counsel readers to do the same.
