An Inimitable Vintage of Purity and Precision

In the tapestry of Burgundy's vinous landscape, the ability to encapsulate both the vigour and subtlety of terroir is a feat that few achieve as consistently as Domaine Leroy. The 2015 Nuits St Georges Aux Boudots resonates with an opulent yet astute narrative - a masterpiece hewn from exceptional climatic benevolence.

Domaine Leroy's modus operandi teases out a purity from the Pinot Noir grapes, which manifests in this wine as a radiant tapestry of red fruits, nuanced by hints of wild herbs and a subtle underlay of finely-grained oak. The 2015 season, noted for its balanced pace, has endowed this Aux Boudots with an impressive structure underpinning the plush texture one covets in a Nuits St Georges.

Investment Potential: Cultivating Liquid Gold

The investable allure of this offering lies not just in its present harmony but in its forecast trajectory. Alongside positive critical reception, wines from Domaine Leroy frequently command an esteemed presence on the secondary market. Moreover, the 2015 vintage promises further depth with age, suggesting that commitment to these bottles could be a rewarding endeavour for connoisseurs with an eye to the future.

As we sculpt our cellars' narratives with judicious acquisitions, including the 2015 Nuits St Georges Aux Boudots from Domaine Leroy strikes me as a discerning addition. The 2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots from Lalou Bize-Leroy is an extraordinary rendition of this great vineyard, opening in the glass with a deep bouquet of sweet spices, dark fruit—plum, cherry—and rose petal that's both more exotic and less savory than this year's Vignerondes. On the palate, the wine is immensely concentrated, with grand cru depth and dimension, its authoritative chassis of fine-grained tannin only asserting itself on the firm, saline finish. In contrast to the giving Vignerondes, this Boudots is decidedly more brooding and structurally reserved, and it will need a decade in the cellar and benefit from longer.
