2004 Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill from Pol Roger

Shrouded in reverence and tightly knit with the lore of history, the 2004 Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill from Pol Roger dances between prestige and elegance with a grace befitting its namesake. The vintage 2004 is known for yielding grapes of remarkable concentration given the Northern regions' damp and cool weather conditions.

A Vintage of Grace Under Pressure

Just as Sir Winston persevered in his efforts against grand adversity, so too did this 2004 production from Pol Roger. An epic vintage with the promise of longevity, battled against the odds of alarmingly wet conditions during the early growing phase, culminating in a triumphant harvest season that was marked by dry conditions and optimal maturation of grapes.

In the bottle, this defiance resonates, expressing itself as significant depth paired harmoniously with refinement. The bouquet is alluringly perfumed with hints of baked apples, roasted nuts and a fluttering touch of minerality elevating it to an Eden for the senses.

The Symphony on the Palate

Tastefully composed, the 2004 Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill boasts an orchestra of complexity that cascades over the palate. The Chardonnay brings notable acidity rounding out Pinot Noir's quieter opulence. The persistent mousse adds textured rhythms to the melody of fruity nuances and a discernable note of brioche.

The finish is remarkably long and gracefully fresh, resonating with echoes of its intricacy. A collectible gem for any wine investment portfolio, its matured resilience mirrors the man to whom it pays tribute, promising potential for thoughtful appreciation.

The 2004 Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill by Pol Roger thus becomes a golden thread interwoven into the fabric of fine wine investment. It's not just a sumptuous experience for palate but also an elegant nod to historical grandeur; a testament to resilience under pressure.

An intense golden-yellow color dresses the Pol Roger prestige cuvée 2004 Sir Winston Churchill, which opens with a clear, deep, dense, ripe, fresh, pure and elegant bouquet of matured apples, apricots and lemon flavors along with exciting spicy flavors. Although this Brut is already more than 11-years-old, it is dew-fresh and still developing--slowly. This Champagne is highly complex and well structured on the palate, with grapefruit flavors; it is a full-bodied and intense, yet very firm, persistent, fresh and very elegant assemblage of unnamed Grand Cru Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. It reveals a very long and complex, powerful but stimulating finish, and obviously, an eternal youth. The finish is powerful and stringent, and reveals a great, great aging potential. The wine is somewhat restrained and too compact at the moment though, and should benefit from a longer bottle aging.
