An Epitome of Rhone's Finest Terroir

The Cote Rotie appellation, with its precipitous slopes and unique climatic nuances, showcases a Syrah that is both muscular and elegant. Here, the "roasted slope" has the privilege of longer sun exposure, contributing to the ripeness and depth that makes the 2001 vintage an investment-worthy proposition. The addition of mineral-rich schist soil gifts this vintage an unmatched complexity and longevity worth noting.

This captivating vintage underpins why investors flock to the top-tier Syrahs produced in Cote Rotie. Let there be no doubt; this 2001 Cote Rotie la Landonne stands head-to-head with other illustrious vintages from Delas Freres.

An Ambrosial Amplification of the 2001 Vintage

The year 2001 welcomed moderate spring rainfalls which set the stage for a warm, dry summer in Rhone. This extended maturation period allowed for ideal phenolic ripening while retaining essential acidity - a combination that manifests within this Cote Rotie as a balanced symphony of rich black fruits and invigorating freshness.

The 2001 Côte Rôtie La Landonne frolics between a playful vivacity and compelling maturity. The palate is an opulent display of ripe blackberry and cherry compote, underscored by a swirling undertow of back pepper spice, liquorice and a subtle hint of violets. Its texture - a velvety cascade that coats the palate, unfolds into an enduring finish that is as provocative as it is pleasurable.

Reflecting back, the 2001 Cote Rotie la Landonne encapsulates the vintage's dichotomy of power and grace. An unmissable opportunity for any discerning investor drawn towards Rhone's inimitable Syrah.

The 2001 Cote Rotie la Landonne was impressive and possessed plenty of the classic warm spice, smoked meats, graphite, licorice and currant aromas and flavors that always dominate this cuvee. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless on the palate, it's drinking nicely today, but should hold nicely through 2025.
