2018 Chateau Suduiraut from Chateau Suduiraut, Sauternes, Bordeaux
The 2018 Chateau Suduiraut from Chateau Suduiraut manifests the grandeur of Sauternes in a vintage that has already begun etching its name in the annals of Bordeaux's sweet wine history. As an early scout into this nascent chapter, my palate has been eagerly anticipating the reveal of this wine's true pedigree.
Provenance and Precision: Liquid Gold Investment
Situated in the heart of the Sauternes region, the revered Chateau Suduiraut is synonymous with liquid gold. The estate's adept mastery over the noble rot has once again created an offering imbued with opulent texture and unrivalled depth. The 2018 vintage from Chateau Suduiraut represents not just a triumph of winemaking but also a beacon for fine wine investors seeking to augment their portfolios with wines boasting potential for magnified splendour with age.
A Phenomenal Vintage's Hallmark: Complex and Harmonious Splendour
The climatic magic of 2018 has granted an auspicious character to the wines from Bordeaux, and Sauternes was no stranger to this phenomenon. The 2018 Chateau Suduiraut benefited incredibly from the season's capricious nature, translating into a wine that exudes both tension and grace. I am enthralled by its aromatic profile: an intricate tapestry woven with threads of candied citrus peel, saffron-spiced honey, and exhilarating blossoms. On the palate, it enchants as botrytis cinerea lends its genius to flesh out candied ginger complexities amidst layers of sun-drenched apricot and simmered peach.
The meticulous balance between the richness of flavour and refreshing acidity stands as a testament to the meticulous care in the vineyard and precision in the chais. It is in this equilibrium that the vintage asserts its distinction within Chateau Suduiraut's illustrious lineage.
In summary, for those captivated by both palatial taste profiles and judicious investment, the 2018 vintage from Chateau Suduiraut proposes an alluring union. As time weaves its narrative fabric, I envisage a nectarous metamorphosis that will sculpt this already exceptional wine into a paragon of its kind – a certainty worth considering in one's investment anthology.Market price (GBP)

This has lots of concentration and mushroom and spice character. Plenty of botrytis. Dense and flavorful finish. Big wine for the vintage. Five hectoliters a hectare and half went into the second wine.
James Suckling - jamessuckling.com - April 2019
The pale to medium lemon-gold colored 2018 Suduiraut comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant notes of candied peel, warm pineapple, guava and key lime pie with hints of orange marmalade and beeswax. The palate is packed with power and richness, with mouth-coating tropical fruits and a long earth-laced finish.
Lisa Perrotti-Brown - The Wine Advocate, 30 April 2019
This is an enjoyable, luxurious and indulgent Sauternes. It’s extremely rich, dark and concentrated – in keeping with its tiny yields (5hl/ha in 2018, of which 40% went into the grand vin) - with attractive bitter orange flavours that cleverly work to give tension where otherwise the low acidity might lose tension. 125g/l residual sugar. The harvest ended on 9 November.
Jane Anson - Decanter - April 2019
Key lime, green almond and kiwifruit flavors give this a distinctive profile, ending with a flash of brioche on the finish. Mellow rather than racy in feel.—J.M.
