Unearthing the Richness of 2017

The year 2017 in Burgundy was marked by a return to form after a series of challenging climatic hurdles in previous years. What transpired in the vineyards of Vosne-Romanée was nothing short of fortuitous: optimally ripened fruit born from benign weather conditions married to meticulous viticulture. As a result, Domaine Meo-Camuzet's offering exemplifies gracefulness tied with an intense aromatic palette.

A Vintage Speaking Volumes

On decanting the 2017 Richebourg, there emerges a bouquet that intrigues and captures; notes of black cherries, forest floor, and exotic spices waft seductively. The palate does not betray expectations; it unfolds with layers – finely woven tannins supporting ripe red fruits, interlaced with hints of violet and an earthy undertow. This vintage is expressive yet precise - an orchestrated symphony of flavours worthy of its noble heritage.

The judicious use of oak is evident here; barrel ageing has imparted whispers of toastiness without overshadowing the purity of fruit - a testament to the savoir-faire at Domaine Meo-Camuzet.

Distinguishing Investment-Wise Distinctions

For connoisseurs intrigued by the investment potential of fine wines, this 2017 vintage holds promise. It straddles robust immediacy with underlying potential for evolution - a collector's delight because it merges immediate pleasure with age-worthiness.

The 2017 Richebourg Grand Cru is also showing very well, bursting with aromas of plummy fruit, sweet spices, grilled squab, orange rind, dark chocolate and rose petals. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with an expansive attack, good depth at the core and fine-boned structuring tannins, concluding with a long, fragrant finish. It will be exciting to revisit from bottle.
