The 2003 Dom Perignon Rose from Dom Perignon
In the sparkling constellation of fine Champagnes, the 2003 Dom Perignon Rose shines with an unparalleled brilliance. The summer heatwave of 2003 left a profound mark on the vineyards of Hautvillers, creating challenging conditions that forged a wine of exceptional character and elegance in the crucible of adversity.
A meteoric vintage, an exceptional Champagne investment
Every precious drop of the 2003 Dom Perignon Rose resonates with the terroir’s struggle against the sweltering climate, coaxing out bold, vibrant flavours that are as complex as they are compelling. The grandeur of its stature makes this precious vintage not only enjoyable to drink but incredibly inviting as an investment prospect for discerning collectors.
On the nose, this electrifying champagne enthralls with rambunctious notes of wild strawberries and pomegranate. As the wine breathes in the glass, tune into the whispers of sweet spice and warm brioche, hinting at a depth of flavor that is both beguiling and fascinating.
A courageous fight against climate challenges
The story of the 2003 vintage in Champagne is one of survival in extreme conditions, creating wines that balance precariously on the dangerous precipice of too much sun. Yet, the 2003 Dom Perignon Rose from Dom Perignon masters this balancing act flawlessly - each sip revealing a degree of resilience and audacious daring seldom witnessed in Champenoise viniculture.
The palate bursts open to a jubilant fanfare of ripe red berries, underscored by a tantalising trace of white pepper. Its breathtaking vivacity and startlingly sophisticated mousse pave a pathway to a finale that lingers long after the last sip - like a refrained echo in an empty cathedral.
This tour de force delivers thrilling complexity and remarkable staying power—an irrefutable testament to Dom Perignon's unrivalled virtuosity in winemaking.

What’s more, the price-quality rapport here is excellent by any Champagne standards, and puts that of many a prestige cuvee to shame. Moet’s 2003 Brut Rose Dom Perignon exhibits both richness and robustness reflecting its torrid vintage, yet manages to stint neither on primary juiciness nor transparency to nuance; nor does it come off as at all heavy. Lightly cooked ripe strawberry and fig infused with rose hip, licorice, Ceylon tea, heliotrope and leather inform a delightfully forward nose and lush, effusively fruity palate. A tart and seedy edge to the strawberry serves for invigoration; and lobster shell reduction serves for mouthwatering salinity and somehow downright sweet animal savor. There is a hint of tannin, but it is fine-grained and suggestive of structural support. A long, seductively rich finish manages to harbor not just the immediately aforementioned virtues, but also a sense of transparency to floral and tea-like nuances and to virtually shimmering stoniness. This alluring and distinctive beauty should be worth following for at least the next half dozen years. Imported by Moet Hennessy, New York, NY; tel. (212) 251-8200
