Sublime Alchemy: A Vintage's Triumph

The year 1995 graced the Côte de Nuits with optimal ripening conditions, a miraculous respite following a set of challenging seasons. This vintage is notable for yielding a more substantial structure and depth than the lighter precedents. Endowed with such structured tannins and an invigorating acidity, the 1995 Chambolle Les Fremières from Domaine Leroy exhibits a beguiling array of earthy nuances interlaced with the ethereal perfumes of ripe cherries and subtle violet notes.

Distinct Legacy: A Winemaker's Intuition

Domaine Leroy, under the astute guidance of Lalou Bize-Leroy, has always accentuated meticulous viticulture and an almost mystical approach to winemaking. The 1995 Chambolle Les Fremières is no exception, with its immaculate expression of terroir. It resonates with the harmonious melody composed of well-integrated oak nuances, creating a narrative in every sip that speaks to both the strength and elegance derived from its celebrated terroir.

Of particular note for investors is how this sublime vintage stands at an intersection of maturity and vibrancy – a perfect convergence that results in wine that captivates both the palate and the imagination. Its longevity assures continued evolution in the bottle, marking it as an investment wine with promising upside potential.

Investing in Elegance: The 1995 Promise

In conclusion, if one seeks a paragon within their investment portfolio – an embodiment of finesse and durability – few could outrival the 1995 Chambolle Les Fremières from Domaine Leroy. This Burgundian masterpiece encapsulates an extraordinary year turned into liquid art, presenting us with an opulent tapestry woven from the fruits of Burgundy's cherished earth. Revealing attractive aromatics of blackberries and violets in addition to flavors of stones, mocha and super-ripe purple fruits, the silky-textured, medium-to-full bodied Chambolle-Musigny Les Fremieres (50 cases) will be at its peak from 2002-2010. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29. The wine was tasted from cask, not bottle. Pinot Noir, a fragile varietal, reacts poorly to fining, filtration, and careless bottling techniques, I recommend caution when considering buying a red burgundy based on cask samples. I called it as I tasted it, and hope the bottled wine reflects the quality of the samples I was provided. I have included the cases production for the wine in order for readers to appreciate the rarity of Leroy's wines. Importer: Martine's Wines, San Raphael, CA; tel. (415) 485-1800.
