Red fruits burst from the glass of the 2000 Richebourg. Suave, deep, and perfectly balanced, it reveals loads of flesh, a powerfully expressive character, and a sumptuous finish. Suave waves of red fruits seamlessly dominate this intense effort’s personality, from its explosive attack to its 45-second finish. Projected maturity: now-2012. Concerning the 2000s, Meo said, “they were exceedingly ripe, like the 1999s, but without the acidity of that vintage. Rot was present, but not an overwhelming problem if you were willing to do what was necessary. The other interesting point is that the grapes had exceedingly thin skins.” Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524
