The turn of the millennium brought many celebrations, and the culmination of exquisite weather variables that year produced a Tignanello from Antinori that truly graced the occasion. Virtuosity in viticulture - worth its weight in vineyard gold

Securing Antinori's Tignanello 2000 as part of an investment portfolio is a testament to one's understanding of the delicate symbiosis between weather variables and terroir; the alchemical fusion that fuels stellar vintages. A Sangiovese-dominant vintage with an intricate injection of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this Tignanello encapsulates the delectable synergy of Italian wine making.

On the palate, this vintage dances gracefully, unveiling sheets of ripe red fruits, woven with notes of tobacco and spice that taper into a dramatic yet measured finish. Investors who seek to broaden their portfolio with iconic Italian wines will duly appreciate the finesse inherent in this exceptional vintage.

The elegance of Italy’s 2000 vintage

The year 2000 held moderate climatic conditions for most wines across Italy; a situation where fewer extremes allowed for uniform ripening and well-rounded attributes. For Antinori's 2000 Tignanello, this plateau of pleasantry provides perfect backbone for its expressive nature.

This smooth blend expertly mirrors the mellow agricultural conditions under which it was born, embodying opulent aromas of ripe cherries and plum, punctuated by a captivating streak of tanned leather and a whisper of menthol - a firm testament to what made the Italian climatic conditions of 2000 truly remarkable.

If anything, this vintage speaks to the wonder that is Italy's multifaceted wine regions, encouraging its recognition as an essential component of any diversified, growth-orientated wine investment portfolio.

The 2000 Tignanello is showing more Cabernet than usual in the nose, a bit to the detriment of the Sangiovese. Dark and intense in color with much plum and cassis fruit along with the graphite and Cabernet herbs, it is solid, tarry, minerally, and dense on the palate. The tannins are less round and supple than in better vintages, but this is a 2000. Drink: 2006-2015. Are we dealing with a half-full or a half-empty glass here? Hard to say, but the competition among the bigger houses is getting tougher in Tuscany, and Antinori may have to look at its quantities in less favorable vintages. It is not clear, for instance, that the right stuff for over one hundred thousand bottles of Guado al Tasso was available in 2000. Importer: Remy Amerique, New York, NY; tel. (800) 358-6002
