Small gains for Liv-ex 100 in April

The fine wine industry benchmark, the Liv-ex 100, closed April at 311.66, up 0.31% on the previous month – a modest gain, but an important one nonetheless as it represents the first rise in five months for the index.

Three of the top movers came from Champagne, with Krug 2002 taking top spot, rising 6.5% in April after losing 6.7% in March. Tattinger Comtes Champagne 2006 also bounced back from its 5.4% loss last month, rising 4.5%.

The biggest fallers came from Burgundy and Bordeaux, perhaps in anticipation of the En Primeur campaign, which is now firmly underway. Vieaux Chateau Certan and Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou, both from 2009, fell 3.7% and 3.9% respectively, while DRC La Tache 2012 dropped 7.9%.
