Champagne house Pol Roger has released its sixth and final vintage from the last decade. The 2009 bookends a strong run of releases from the first 10 years of the 21st century, as chef de caves Dominique Petit says there will be no 2010.

Speaking to the drinks business, Petit says that while the 2008 is widely accepted as the greatest vintage of the decade after the 2002, both the 2008 and 2009 are “equally complex”, although the most recent vintage offers greater delicacy compared to its predecessor. “You won’t be disappointed in either,” he said.

The 2009 was disgorged in September 2017, comprising 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay hailing from 20 grands and premier crus in the Champagne region of Montagne de Reims and Cote des Blancs. Pol Roger’s 2009 Blanc de Blancs is already available on the market.
