USA Wine Summary
Over 500 years ago, Christopher ‘the man who discovered America’ Columbus set sail in search of new trade routes. His ship was packed with barrels of oak carrying water and wine – wine being an essential provision for his great voyage. During the ‘age of exploration’ it was voyagers such as Columbus and Ferdinand Magellan who, beginning their journeys in Spanish ports, were responsible for the first wines to land on US soil.
Half a Millenium on, US wines have carved out their own successful path as the wine market has continued to broaden. As an investment-focused business, we recognised this growing global demand and at the end of 2012, we decided to adopt a more aggressive stance towards fine wines from the USA most namely Napa Valley. In today’s wine market and more pertinently tomorrow’s market, we are convinced that US investment grade wine will have a bigger role to play.
